In particular, Newquay attraction Lappa Valley has been supported by Cornwall Council's Business Support team in realising its new café. Through the support of the council, Lappa Valley has implemented recommendations, achieving the maximum food hygiene rating.

Ben Harding, the operations manager at Lappa Valley, said: “The Business Support team have helped us immensely with their Gain or Retain service to make sure everything is on the right page prior to an inspection. Their service has been truly invaluable.”

Nick Kelly, the food and safety team manager at Cornwall Council, added: “Whilst we have our work cut out here in Cornwall looking after so many food businesses, we are fortunate to have such a hard-working business community that takes food hygiene very seriously.

"The high proportion of top-rated food establishments is a testament to a positive relationship between Cornwall Council’s food safety team and business owners’ commitment to food safety, which ultimately ensures residents and visitors to Cornwall can feel confident in eating out in our wonderful county."
