Construction has begun on a £4.8 million housing development in Newcastle, County Down.

Hagan Homes is building 27 detached, semi-detached houses and apartments a new development known as Shima Mile.

The development is expected to be completed in a span of 18 months, with the showhouse scheduled to open in April 2024. The first phase of homes will be ready for occupancy by June 2024.

As well as the Newcastle project, Hagan Homes has another six live projects in Holywood, Coleraine, Ballymoney, Comber, Greenisland and Antrim.

Finmac Construction Ltd, which will be building the development, said the construction phase will create 50 roles.

Within its offering, Shimna Mile includes two-bed apartments, three-bed townhouses, semi-detached, and detached homes, totalling 27 residences. The homes are priced between £150,000 and £250,000.
