The North East’s top businesses will gather in the Grand Marquee at Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield on Tuesday, September 26 for this year’s edition of the North East Business Awards - and tickets are now on sale.

This prestigious gala evening is an opportunity to celebrate the innovation, entrepreneurship, technology and creativity that characterises the region’s business community, as well as some of the individuals making their mark in the North East and beyond.

The awards, headline partnered by Sage and in association with Middlesbrough College Group, have cemented their place in the North East’s business calendar over more than 20 years, and this year’s event will be hosted by Olympic athlete and popular media personality Iwan Thomas MBE, who will deliver a keynote speech on the night.

Following a glittering athletics career in which he held the British 400m record for 25 years, picked up medals at all the major championships and held the titles of European, Commonwealth and World champion, the Welshman is now an experienced broadcaster and a regular face on our screens.

A presenter for BBC’s The One Show, former contestant on Strictly Come Dancing and Bear Gryll’s Celebrity Island and recent winner of both Channel 4’s Hunted and BBC Masterchef’s Christmas special, Iwan also adds his athletics experience and expertise to Paralympic and international sporting coverage.

Iwan will host the evening and entertain guests as recounts his journey from playground to podium. He said: "I'm delighted to be hosting the North East Business Awards this year at Hardwick Hall Hotel.
